Sarah Dowzell is an award-winning entrepreneur and mother of two boys. She began her journey into entrepreneurship after founding a business in the cleaning industry and becoming an employer at the age of 21. Soon after, Sarah identified a gap in the market for better HR management.
With it, Natural HR was born. Sarah and her husband co-founded the online HR software, which started life in 2009, but it wasn’t until 2015 that the Dowzells raised seed capital. The funding allowed them to take on their first office in Birmingham City Centre and make their first hires in early 2016.
Over the course of their entrepreneurial journey as an HR Tech start-up, they raised over £1.6m in funding and grew their team to over 50 employees before being acquired by Moorepay in 2023.
Championing women in the technology industry
Today, Sarah continues to live and breathe her passions in HR, entrepreneurship, and female founders. She is particularly keen to encourage more women into the technology industry and board-level roles.
As a working mother, Sarah sees first-hand the challenges parents face while growing a business. This is why she’s so focused on helping ambitious people to reach their career goals.
Lobbying for governmental change
Many of these challenges come from a fundamentally broken system. As such, Sarah is an avid campaigner for government-level policy change. She’s keen to promote mental health in the workplace and raise awareness of issues that affect women and working parents.
